Q: Are the sound samples on the website taken from the items that are for sale?

A: Yes - if there's a sound sample attached to the item, it's recorded from the vinyl itself. All sound samples run approximately 3:30. They are unmastered and unedited, meaning you will hear the truest representation of the product possible. For the sake of retaining the quality of the sound and the maximum length available for stream, we export these preview files as mp3, around 145-185 kbps (medium quality). We only use Audacity as a recording software.

Q: Is your Discogs shop the same as your website? Do you have the same prices, shipping rates, etc?

The Discogs store for Perennial Rhythms has the identical stock and pricing as the website (for the time being). You likely found us through Discogs. But there are two strong reasons why you should buy through our website:

1. We offer free shipping over any amount of records over $50 within the United States;

2. If requested, we will provide complimentary audio backup files of your purchases. This website and the manner in which we collect, in order to sell, makes recording our catalogue obligatory and therefore of no extra cost to the buyer. If you purchase a record that has known imperfections, we will - in some cases - have de-clicked it ourselves. In that case, will provide you an audio backup that is arguably "better" than the vinyl sound itself.

Both of these offers are only valid through this website and we hope to offer more incentives along the way for both new and regular customers.

Q: What is GlobalPost and why do you use it?

GlobalPost is a third-party company that is partnered with USPS to deliver packages to participating countries outside the United States. It is because of this service we can offer reasonable international rates - otherwise it can be expensive via USPS First Class International.

If you would rather us ship USPS, please message upon checkout and we will readjust the invoice accordingly.

Q: How do you clean records before grading/shipping?

A: We carefully hand-clean every record with simple alcohol and distilled water, and provide a brand new innersleeve if the item doesn't already have one, and in most all cases a brand new poly outersleeve. In some cases we will have used a VPI cleaning machine and if so, will be noted in the item description.

Q: How do you decide on which tracks to record for the website? Is it because they sound better?

A: What we choose or not choose to include on the website for streaming is more of a matter of personal taste for us. We try to select tracks that we fell are the best representation of the release, and we try to provide unedited tracks so you can get the best feel for the sound as possible.
